Our leading non-profit pediatric health center is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Child & Adolescent Dentistry to join our team.
The Director, Child of Adolescent Dentistry (CAD) will develop, manage, and evaluate all oral health programs/services for the Child & Adolescent Dentistry Department, including to conduct research at the community level to identify gaps in programs and/or services. Based on identified needs, will provide recommendations and/or guidance for improving existing programs/services or the development and implementation of new programs/services consistent with department goals. The Director will work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that the oral health initiatives and corresponding programs outlined in the strategic plan are achieved, as well as consult/collaborate with appropriate professional groups. Will also provide direction to develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies/procedures. The Director will provide direct and/or indirect leadership of CAD staff including selection, evaluation, staff development, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Leadership
Develops short and long-range goals/objectives, annual plans, clinical and community-based programs, training and evaluation criteria consistent with the disciplines and resources within the Child & Adolescent Dentistry Department.
Serves as a liaison within the professional community, with third-party payers, and other institutions and contractors as related to departmental issues.
Participates in refining the Center’s mission and defining the departmental contribution to that mission in such a way as to inspire and elicit the creative efforts of department members.
Develops and maintains grants, contracts and programs consistent with departmental goals.
Recruits, selects, trains, supervises, counsels and evaluates personnel.
Acts as the department’s primary communication link with other Health Center departments and administration, including service on selected committees, preparation of all program reports, convening of regular staff meetings, etc.
Prepares annual department operational and capital assets budgets. Oversees expenditures and recommends appropriate and adequate materials, space, furnishings and equipment for the department. Seeks new grants and contracts. Analyzes and augments value of service.
Provides direction for the development and implementation of departmental policies/procedures and programs/activities.
Evaluates CAD programs on an ongoing basis to optimize service delivery through continual process improvement.
Teaching/Training
Promotes staff development through continuing education, workshops, seminars or expanded job assignments.
Evaluation/Quality Improvement
Develop and implement an evaluation plan for the department to monitor process, progress, and outcomes.
Assess, monitor, and assure quality standards are maintained.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Negotiate contracts including when relevant to maximize the potential for receiving reimbursement for all eligible services provided to clients.
Develop, implement, and monitor policies/procedures within area of responsibility.
Participate in staff meetings and committees as assigned.
Prepare administrative reports as required by leadership.
Assist with special projects and/or assignments as determined by the President.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Requires bachelor's degree or higher in health administration or related dental field.
This position requires a high level of leadership experience earned through five or more years work experience in health administration, including supervision of staff.
Preference given to leadership experience in the dental field.
Prior work experience and training should include knowledge of organizational and management principles, program development, data management, budgeting, and supervision of staff.
Analytical skills to provide job skill analysis, assess needs, develop programs, and evaluate effectiveness.
Must be proficient (highly developed knowledge) at writing proposals, negotiating contracts and managing renewal bids.
Must have the ability to direct, supervise and evaluate subordinate staff.
Personal qualities of unquestioned integrity, professional dedication, servant leadership and commitment to the basic tenets of MCHC’s service mission and Core Values are required.
Basic computer skills required in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Intermediate computer skills required in Microsoft Outlook
Advanced computer skills required in EHR/EDR/EPM, Dentrix preferred.
Must have a high degree of communication and interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with administration, associates, community agency personnel, consultants, clients and visitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed primarily in an office or clinic environment with no unusual discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise or exposure to hazardous materials.
Risk Category B - Job functions involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
